Mission Ramadan: Muslim Bloggers Challenge
Friday, August 21, 2009 Assalamu'alaikum,
Last night, a group of Muslim bloggers met to discuss how to unite each Ramadan on a single theme so we can have maximum impact as Muslim bloggers on the online blogosphere.
We discussed, debated, and finally resolved to start:
Mission: Ramadan
What is it?
Every Ramadan, 30 Muslim bloggers will each be assigned one day during Ramadan, to contribute creative posts to a chosen theme from their own unique perspectives. The contributions need to be unique (i.e. no overlaps!) and they may vary from written articles, stories, to video/audio contributions or any other creative way of expressing themselves.
When is it starting?
This Ramadan, i.e. tomorrow! Actually, tonight we shall have a live page accessible to all inshaAllah
What's this year's theme?
This year's theme is: the Quran.
Imagine, we'll have 30 bloggers each contributing unique creative posts about THE QURAN by end of the month. I'm expecting lots of surprises inshaAllah!! :D
What's your vision? Where you're going with this?
The potential is endless, and all depends on you, the reader and blogger taking this on board. Initially, Mission Ramadan will be hosted on ProductiveMuslim.com. Next year, we'll have an independent website hosting this project and have a competition between the 30 bloggers on the best, most creative posts, judged by renowned Muslim scholars & votes from readers. The following year... well, let's not get into that now; from starting an online Muslim bloggers coalition to producing e-books on the best of the best posts, the opportunities are many inshaAllah!
Why limit it to Ramadan only? Why can't you make it throughout the year?
We discussed the above and realised that in order to make this project a success, we need to stay as focussed as possible. Squeezing the best of the Muslim blogosphere in 30 days is much more doable then trying to maintain momentum throughout the year.
Why limit it to bloggers only? why can't anyone contribute?
One of the aims of this project is really bring exposure of the hidden gems in Muslim blogosphere during Ramadan. Moreover, hopefully this project will encourage many young and old Muslims to start their own blogs and really contribute to the online Islamic social media.
So, what's in it for the bloggers? What do they get?
If you sign up with us today, you'll be the early bird to a great project with endless potential. You'll get exposure to an entire new audience, so this is your opportunity to shine!. Moreover, as people comment on your post you'll network with lots of new readers and fellow bloggers, bringing about a synergy of new ideas and viewpoints never experienced online before!
Moreover, since we only have 30 slots each year, signing up today will guarantee you access to the Ramadan Mission Project, otherwise you'll have to wait till next year!
Awesome! I'm a Muslim blogger, what should I do to join?
Follow these 3 simple steps and you'll be with us in no time!
