There's still khair in the Ummah...
Friday, September 11, 2009 One of the sweet outcomes of the Ramadan school is the goodness it brings out of us in its blessed days. It truly brings the Hadeeth “There’s still khair (goodness) in my Ummah till the Day of Judgement” to life and makes you admire and love our beautiful Ummah.
People complain about us a lot... we complain about our Ummah a lot, but there’s so much khair in this Ummah and here are just examples:
When an old man holds a date in his hand, just the one date he has and shares it with his fasting brethren, you know there’s khair in this Ummah.
When young men stand at traffic lights in Muslim countries to deliver iftaar to those stuck in traffic, you know there’s khair in this Ummah.
When an orphan sponsorship gets booked out, or an entire building gets build as a trust for the sake of serving the poor and orphans, you know there’s khair in this Ummah.
When people remind each other of Allah, and they stop short of committing a sin or transgressing on others, you know there’s khair in this Ummah.
When 1.5 billion Muslims around the world, discipline themselves in the most incredible manner with their fasting, prayers, you know there’s khair in the Ummah.
When young children memorize the Quran and are keen to remember the words of Allah and compete in doing so, you know there’s khair in this Ummah.
When elderly parents are taken care of by the children instead of being thrown in a nursing home, you know there’s khair in the Ummah.
When Muslims stop everything they do, 5 times a day, just to pray, you know there’s khair in the Ummah.
When our sisters sacrifice exposing their beauty solely for the sake of Allah and cover themselves with hijab, you know there’s khair in the Ummah.
When tears fall upon the worshippers eyes and you hear the cries of men, women and children asking Allah to forgive them, you know there’s khair in the Ummah.
When we help each, say salam to each other, hug each other, even though we may not know one another, we know there’s khair in the Ummah.
When we’re moved by an Islamic cause, driven by a vision to serve Allah, and passionately put our heart and mind to it, you know there’s khair in this Ummah.
When we love each other for the sake of Allah, and visit each other for the sake of Allah, you know there’s khair in this Ummah.
When we respect our scholars, make dua for our imams, and humbly learn at their feet, you know there’s khair in this Ummah.
When we’re moved to tears whenever we hear about our Prophet and we truly miss him and wish he was amongst us today, you know there’s khair in this Ummah.
I must stop here, I can't continue... but after this, can you ever doubt that there’s khair in the Ummah?

@times, we get all negative with the evil around us.. a post like this, definitely lifts up the spirits!
Jazak Allahu Khair
When muslims, children or adults, tenderly kiss their parents on their head, on their hands, and hug them, you know there is khair in this Ummah.
Good approach. You must be an optimist. We are the best community (ummah) despite our shortcomings.
Assalamualaikumwarahmatullahiwabarakatuhu
Jazakallah for this beautiful post, it is amazing when we hear about the khair in this ummah :)
btw I have done my Productive Muslim post too.
Jazzak Allahu Khair for this, truely Allah has given us an unimaginable amount of good just by making us Muslims, whether we are weak or strong. May Allah increase that Khair for us, help us to spread that khair, invite others to it and cause us to inherit the earth with khair.
wow..that was so beautiful! :)
Jazakallah Khair.
This is a very important reminder, especially for those who have or are losing hope in our Ummah and the khair in that Ummah.
I would like to know the author of this poem, I may use it in the future.
JazakAllah Khair for your comment... I wrote that piece in the "passion" of the moment, didn't mean it to be a poem :). Feel free to quote: ProductiveMuslim.. JazakAllah Khair
