What is Khushu'?

Khushu' during Salah is misunderstood by some people as crying and weeping. Rather, it is the presence of the heart during an act of 'Ibadah. When a person's heart is fully occupied of what he says or hears, he is in a true state of Khushu'. The concept of Khushu' in Salah is very essential.

1- It is a vital factor in making a person successful in this life and in later life.

"Indeed, the believers, who have Khushu' in their Salah, are the winners." [Noble Quran 23:1-2]

2-It is a contributing factor for the acceptance of Salah.

3- It is a way to gain more rewards from the Almighty Allah; the more the Khushu' a person has, the more rewards he gets.

4- Without Khushu' the heart cannot easily be purified.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.productivemuslim.com/productivemuslimah/2010/7/22/guest-post-productive-moms-living-with-the-names-of-allah-pa.html"><rss:title>Guest Post: Productive Moms Living with the Names of Allah [Part II]</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.productivemuslim.com/productivemuslimah/2010/7/22/guest-post-productive-moms-living-with-the-names-of-allah-pa.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

This post is a continuation from Productive Moms Living with the Names of Allah [Part I]

Al-Lateef The One who is most subtle and gracious. The One whose nature is gentle, affectionate, courteous, and refined. The One who is Kind to His believing servants guiding them to that which would benefit them and aid them via means that they are not aware, this is by His Kindness and Beneficence. The One Whose Knowledge encompasses all the secret and hidden matters. It indicates that Allah is not only compassionate to the believers, but He SWT is more than patient, He is lenient, cautious, gentle and affectionate. I am living with this name constantly reminding myself to be kind and gentle to all, most especially with my kids. Let’s live with this name InshAllah, by taking care not to hurt the creation of Allah from the smallest to the greatest. Take care not to say or do anything that might hurt the feelings of your brothers or sisters in Islam.

Moms, take a moment to ponder over how you respond to your kids. When our kids approach us before they begin to utter a word we tell them to keep quite or say we are busy, and on other occasions we appear to be listening without giving our full attention – how would you feel if that were you? Now put yourself in a position of a small powerless kid and begin to have a sense of appreciation of the way they feel.

Let’s be subtle with our little gems and do not strip them of the Fitrah that Allah placed in them – Allah the fashioner has bestowed all humans with behaviour and characteristics that will shape our kids into the individuals they are, we have to nurture and care for them as they grow to be strong productive Muslims. As parents lets explore these subtleties in our kids that are not expressed through words but actions and start forming a powerful loving relationship with them Al Hamdulilah.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.productivemuslim.com/productivemuslimah/2010/7/21/interview-with-a-productive-muslimah-khafayah-abdulsalam-umu.html"><rss:title>Interview with a Productive Muslimah - Khafayah Abdulsalam (UMUKA)</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.productivemuslim.com/productivemuslimah/2010/7/21/interview-with-a-productive-muslimah-khafayah-abdulsalam-umu.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

This interview is part of our In the Footsteps of Khadijah (May Allah be pleased with her) interview series

We welcome Sr. Kadijah; a very creative, Productive Muslimah, the founder of Barakah Life- handmade creative living.

Please begin by telling us about yourself

I was born and raised in majestic Alaska and left when I attended University in the states. In the 1980’s I was studying humanities and at the same time sought meaning to my own life and in time found what I was looking for in Islam. Not long after I embraced it I married and moved to the Bay Area in California.
After all these years Alaska is still home to me although I no longer live there.

Growing up I felt, like most people that I was so different from my parents but as you get older you see parts of your parents in yourself. My parents were dreamers but they were also doers. My father was a carpenter and seemed to be able to make anything with his hands and was also a wonderful gardener. My mom could make something out of nothing she was also a very nurturing gardener and she loved the plants and birds that found their way into her gardens. There is simplicity and a practicality in the things I do which I think comes from my parents’ values.

Asalaam alaikum, readers. I wonder how you have been getting on with setting your goals the S.M.A.R.T way. To recap, SMART goal setting requires that we get really clear about what we want, and set small, specific steps toward getting there. You may remember Amira’s story so far. She came to me to learn how to move forward. I trained her on how to set SMART goals which really helped her get on with her health and wellness goals. However, she came to me the following week and asked a very important question. She said “I’ve learned how to set goals now, and I can see that it can be done, but what do I do to stay on track? What will I do if things get difficult again?” She asked one of the most important coaching questions of all. How do you sustain action? What keeps you going when all those life distractions creep up?

Learning to set goals is the first step. The step that follows is implementation. In addition to that, we need to make sure that we can really keep things going so we can achieve the outcome. We need something a little bit extra to manage our goal. Goal management can be broken down into two major areas; one is overcoming any obstacles that come along, and the other is to record progress so we remain inspired along the way. Let’s explore some possible strategies to help us along our way.

Every woman is unique, so the challenges we face can vary. Let’s talk about some general obstacles that may hinder our progress.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.productivemuslim.com/productivemuslimah/2010/6/29/interview-with-a-productive-muslimah-rubina-zaman-entreprene.html"><rss:title>Interview with a Productive Muslimah - Rubina Zaman (Entrepreneur)</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.productivemuslim.com/productivemuslimah/2010/6/29/interview-with-a-productive-muslimah-rubina-zaman-entreprene.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject>Professional Muslimah Roles of a ProductiveMuslimah</dc:subject>

This interview is part of our In The Footsteps of Khadijah (May Allah be pleased with her) interview series-

Well, I decided to stay at home after the birth of my first daughter and wanted to create a source of income for myself on the side.
A day when the sky is blue; the sun is shining; the birds are singing and joining her in praising the Lord for his bounties.

Familiar smiling faces all around her with glowing warmth and happiness
Guests bearing gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh but most importantly they bring with them their sincere congratulations.
Family and guests are cheerful and enjoying each other’s company and the exquisite food and sweets while the young ones are running around and laughing.

The centre of attention is not the chocolate fountain or the cake, it’s the bride; that beauty of a flower; that princess. Sitting next to her is her prince. A wonderfully righteous man who’ll love and cherish her and she’ll respect and admire him for a lifetime to come.

The end of that day is too emotional yet mum’s loving hug, dad’s proud kiss on her forehead and her siblings’ tender words tell her that she’s welcome back (for a visit) whenever she wants.

That’s her dream; her special day. The specifics of day like the colour of the dress, the venue decoration and the number of dishes served will be as different as women are different and unique. However, I can hazard the guess that most women would want a day full of happiness, joy and blessings.

The wedding day is a major milestone in this journey we call dunya. This tells us that there are things that must come beforehand. Steps to take towards that day way before the location has been decided.

But why not stay with the dream. Why do we have to get to the boring and dry stuff of doing something?
Because we have too many concerns and anxieties and though it is easier to stay in dream land we need to remember that we will have to wake up and smell the cappuccino. In this day and age divorce is mentioned as a prefix to the word marriage and in a way it is already a negative beginning and a shadow cast over the rosy picture drawn earlier.

</rss:item></rdf:RDF>
